A common phrase in football is that a game is often won and lost in midfield.
According to Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, this was clearly evident in the Telkom Knockout semi-final against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Sundowns were down to 10 men following the sending off of midfielder Gaston Sirino, but Mosimane singled out the engine room with his assessment.
Although a man light, Downs prevailed 2-1 and Mosimane waxed lyrical about his midfielders, especially Andile Jali.
SowetanLIVE reported that Mosimane credited the experience of captain Hlompho Kekana and felt that his players' international experience was a deciding factor in the outcome.
Mosimane said, ‘‘His [Hlompho Kekana] partnership with Andile Jali showed that these are players that have played for Bafana - they have experience.”
Mosimane continued to heap praise on Jali: ‘‘I think that AJ played a fantastic game‚ an unbelievably brilliant game."
Briefly.co.za gathered that Mosimane feels that Jali is now vindicating Sundowns' move for him.
The Brazilians are set to meet Maritzburg United in the final on December 14.
