Canadian pop star, Celine Dion’s new studio album, Courage made its debuts at No 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Courage is Celine’s fifth No. 1 album and her first chart-topper in more than 17 years. Celine’s last No.1 hit was A New Day Has Come in 2002.

According to Billboard.com, the 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in America based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new dated chart (30 November), where Courage bows at No.1, will be posted on Billboards websites on 26 November.

Courage’s total unit start was 113 000, album sales comprise 109 000, SEA units equal 3 000 and TEA units total 1000. The album’s first week got a boost from album sales generated by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with Dion’s Courage World Tour.

Some notable achievements for Celine’s Courage album:

- It’s her fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She previously hit the top with Falling Into You (No.1 for three weeks in 1996), Let’s Talk About Love (one week in 1998), All the Way.. A Decade of Song (three weeks in total, two in 1999 and one in 2000) and A New Day Has Come (one week in 2002).

- Celine collected No. 1s in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s and now in 2019, which makes it No.1 albums in each of the last decade. She’s the 13th act and fourth woman to achieve this accolade.

- Celine had to wait more than 17 years for her latest No.1 between A New Day Has Come and Courage’s premiere

- The pop star now has 13 top 10-charting albums on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, about three weeks ago, Briefly.co.za reported that US rapper, Kanye West, felt extra blessed that week as every song on his gospel album, Jesus Is King, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Follow God debuted the highest on the chart at number seven. The born-again 42-year-old, who almost turned his back on rap music at one point, has vowed to stop using vulgar language in his songs.

The album is West's record ninth consecutive album to debut at number one on the Billboard chart. Briefly.co.za reported that he shares this record with fellow rapper, Eminem.

West has featured a number of artists who are not well-known on this album, giving them their first chance to shine on the charts.
