ANC members in the Amathole district have called for AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalingyebo to attend the funeral of the late Xhosa king. The comrades are seeking permission for the jailed royal to be temporarily released.

The ANC in Amathole has asked for King Dalindyebo to be granted permission to attend the funeral of AmaXhosa King Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu.
Briefly.co.za reported that President Cyril Ramaphosa had announced a top-level send-off for the beloved Sigcawu this Friday.
Speaking to 702, regional head of communications Lwando Mangqishi revealed that releasing the jailed Dalindyebo may actually be on the cards.

While negotiations are underway, the Eastern Cape commissioner of correctional services has confirmed that there is a possibility.
Mangqishi has admitted that conditions will be put in place and it is being discussed with the king, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence:
"We are saying that, for the king's dignity, the king must not be chained when he goes to his people."
