- Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp was left fuming after Khama Billiat returned from international duty with an injury
- Middendorp shared his frustrations as the star forward left Chiefs with a tight hamstring
- Billiat reportedly played through pain for Zimbabwe against Botswana and Zambia
Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp expressed his frustration with the situation involving Khama Billiat and his national team, Zimbabwe.
The star forward was forced to miss the crucial Telkom Knockout clash against Maritzburg United as a result of a hamstring injury suffered while on international duty.
Chiefs duly lost the semifinal clash and left Middendorp fuming.
Middendorp said, "It's upsetting, he already went to the national team with a tight hamstring and there is nothing we can do."
SowetanLIVE reported that Billiat played through the pain during the international window.
Middendorp added, ""He played with pain against Botswana and played against Zambia."
Briefly.co.za gathered that Middendorp is not impressed by the way Billiat is being managed by Zimbabwe as he suffered similar injuries in the past.
Chiefs still enjoy a healthy lead in the Absa Premiership, but the margin was reduced to seven points, following Sundowns' win on Tuesday over AmaZulu.
Middendorp will be sweating on the fitness of Billiat and will hope he passes a late fitness test as they visit Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday.
