The Crown Gospel Music Awards took place this past Sunday, 12 December, in Durban.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Sonia had the pleasure of handing out the awards and apparently channelling the Holy Spirit too.

Sonia praised Jesus at the top of her lungs, belting out “Hallelujah!” mere seconds before she awarding Sipho Makhabane (aka Big Fish) the Best Gospel Jazz award.

The moment caught many by surprise and took social media by storm. Clips of Sonia’s outburst have been doing the rounds and the people have been busting hard over it.

Sonia has since come forward and explained to Daily Sun that she had been overcome by the Holy Spirit.

“Once I was on stage I got possessed by the Holy Spirit. I was not under the influence of anything. I had not been to Durban for some time and I was just too excited,” claimed Sonia.

Despite Sonia’s explanation peeps still tore her apart online.
