- Police Minister Bheki Cele has canceled all leave for policemen over the December period
- Cele revealed that even SA's high ranking officers will be pulled away from their holidays
- The minister says that 'blue lights' will be the order of the day in South Africa
Police Minister Bheki recently revealed that this festive season will have more than just Christmas lights.
'Blue lights will be the order of the day' according to Cele, who says police officials across the country will be hard at work while the rest of the nation plays:
"Officers will be on trains, on buses and bus stops and malls. There will be blue lights on roads and highways. You will see boots on the ground in taxi ranks, Chisa Nyamas, recreational parks, beaches to ensure that this festive season is festive and remains that way."
IOL reports that all leave has been canceled, including to those at the 'top-level' of the food chain, with Cele adamant that the police will be out in full force:
"As the police service, turning the tide against criminality means for us, we must do things differently. This is why we are addressing the availability of resources and the alignment of resources with urgency.
Briefly.co.za gathered that now information on criminal behavior has seen some changes made to the game plan for keeping SA safer.
Cele says that more officers will be deployed to areas that have been identified as hot spots in a bid to reduce violent crimes. This will see cops deployed to the regions they are needed most during this busy time of year.
