On Sunday night, Bidvest Wits scored their first point in the CAF Confederation Cup. According to Soccer Laduma, Wits qualified for the group stages of a CAF interclub competition for the first time in their almost 100-year history.
Taking to Twitter, the SA club gushed about earning a point after a draw against Horoya A.C.
The post read:
"Well done #TheCleverBoys for picking up our 1st point in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 0-0 draw against Horoya A.C this evening. We'll get them next time!"
SA soccer fans congratulated Wits on their performance in the comment section. However, some social media users were not impressed by the team's lack of goals during the match.
Magezi Chauke, who goes by the Twitter handle @MageziChauke7, commented:
"If you don't win at home, you are going nowhere."
Another tweep, @MphuthiH, wrote:
"That's the game we should have easily won. It's going to be very difficult away."
In other news, Briefly.co.za previously reported Pitso Mosimane threw major shade at the SA team who are not in the CAF Champions League.
Mosimane emphasised that only the Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits are in the CAF Champions League and the other SA teams should stay in their lane.
