- Kaizer Chiefs have officially won the Absa Premiership Q-Innovation Q1 award for this season
- It is the first time in four seasons that the Amakhosi are winning the award
- Chiefs scoop a hefty R1.5-million in prize money for the accomplishment
Kaizer Chiefs will be having an extra festive December after it was announced that the club has won this season's Absa Premiership Q-Innovation Q1 award.
It's the first time in four seasons that Chiefs have accomplished the feat - they won the league the last time they did so during the 2014/ 2015 season.
The Amakhosi were rewarded for their excellent form and log leading position on the Premier Soccer League log.
Briefly.co.za deemed the R1.5-million prize money to be a fitting reward for their exploits.
The other PSL teams will be competing for the prize money in the remaining three quarters until the end of the season.
Winning the Q1 award is never a guarantee of title success as the league is never won in December.
Last season, Bidvest Wits enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign as they won Q1, but were ultimately undone by Mamelodi Sundowns in the end.
Baroka were unlikely winners of the Q1 award during the 2017/ 2018 season.
