New tech means no more bribing officials for driver's licenses

The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department says that the days of buying your driver's license are over. New technology has been launched to keep a close eye on learners

South Africans hoping to grease a few palms instead of earning their driver's licenses are in for a letdown.

The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department is claiming that the days of bribing officials are over with the launch of e-driver technology.

eNCA reports that learner drivers will now be recorded and tracked while taking the tests needed to become a legit motorist in SA.

MEC for Transport in the region Bheki Ntuli says this new tech will help the department keep proper records of what transpires during the tests:

"It will help stop crime and corruption in our stations. There is no ways for learners to bribe the people at the station."
