True legend: Makazole Mapimpi wins big at the Sharks annual awards

South Africa's favourite winger Makazole Mapimpi scooped the top prize at the Sharks' annual awards event held in Durban on Tuesday evening.

Mapimpi became the first Springbok to score a try in a Rugby World Cup final when South Africa triumphed over England in Japan a month ago.

The 29-year-old was named Player of the Year at the Sharks' awards ceremony. He also scooped Fans' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

His prize included a luxury BMW 3 Series. The humble player from Eastern Cape was also nominated in the Super Rugby Player of the Year category with Ande Esterhuizen emerging victorious.

Social media users also congratulated the decorated player. Twitter user dunxxB said:

"True legend"

Meanwhile Twitter user Max53909604 was more focused on Mapimpi's new German machine, saying:

"I hope it’s a M3"
