On Wednesday, another video surfaced online showing an unsuspecting South African falling victim to the crime in the country.

The footage shows a brazen thug smashing a motorist's passenger window before grabbing a handbag. The incident happened in broad daylight and was so fast that the motorist barely had time to react.

Yusuf Abramjee posted the video on his Twitter page, captioning it:

"Smash and grab: look how fast it happens."

South Africans were shocked at how fast the man broke the window and stole the handbag and we took a look at some of the reactions.

Twitter user, @Afrika34591630, commented:

"If stealing was an Olympic sport, South Africa would be leading the medal count."

It's not the first time a smash and grab happened in Mzansi but sometimes the stories have happy endings.

Briefly.co.za reported earlier this year that a man was applauded and hailed a hero online after he risked his own life to save a woman from thieves on a SA highway.
