Former United States first lady Michelle Obama has been named as one of the influential people to make People magazine's People of the Year list.

Michelle Obama is ending the year on a high with a mention on the prestigious list as well as a best selling memoir.

The stunning wife of Barack Obama's memoir, "Becoming" sold more than 11.5 million copies in different mediums across the world.

According to Daily Caller, the memoir is quickly becoming one of the most successful in the genre.

“We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” Thomas Rabe, head of one of Penguin Random House’s parent companies, said earlier this year.

However, the former US first lady was not confident about the book or the tour that followed. She said that she remembered waking up in "a bit of a panic" on the eve of the first tour event in Chicago.
