Cricket South Africa (CSA) president Chris Nenzani has confirmed in a briefing on Saturday that Graeme Smith has agreed in principle to the position of director of cricket for South Africa.
Briefly.co.za learned that the final paperwork is expected to be completed by Wednesday bring a tense couple of weeks to an end.
Smith had initially been interviewed for the position but pulled out due to personal concerns he had over the role. Then in a turn around it was reported that Smith was back in the running but it was mostly speculation.
However, it has now been confirmed and Northerns CEO Jacques Faul has taken up the position of acting CSA CEO according to sacricketmag.com.
Briefly.co.za had previously covered a story about Graeme Smith being taken off the market as a single man when he tied the knot with Romy Lanfranchi at a stunning wedding.
