- The ANC is claiming that it does not know whether or not Jacob Zuma is currently in Cuba for medical treatment
- This comes after a report has claimed that the former president has flown to the country after allegedly getting poisoned by one of his wives
- None of the statements made in the report can be proven as of yet
Almost a month ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Jacob Zuma was released from hospital after being admitted for then-mysterious reasons.
Zuma was just 'overworked' at the time and needed to get some rest and take things easy.
However, now it has been reported that Jacob Zuma is in Cuba, where he is receiving medical treatment. It is believed his illness is related to the alleged poisoning by an estranged wife.
According to News24, the ANC says it is just as surprised as the rest of the country to hear about this.
Pule Mabe, ANC spokesperson, told the press at the ANC's last NEC meeting of 2019 that the party does not have knowledge of the former president's travel to Cuba.
"Well, like yourselves, we've seen media reports that suggest the health of the former president of the ANC might be ailing. If that was to be true, we, of course, wish him well and a speedy recovery.
The Citizen reports that Zuma does not trust that South African doctors can treat poisonings as effectively and he is now in a 'secret hospital'.
It is also reported that the former ANC leader is having trouble with his memory.
