Many citizens may not be aware of the achievement, but South Africa was named as the Junior Ballet Small Group World Champions.
The accolade was earned by a small group of ballet dancers who flew the South African flag high at the annual World Ballet and Jazz Championship.
Briefly.co.za learnt that the competition was held in Poland recently and featured 2 800 dancers.
SA People reported that 33 countries participated in the global event so the wonderful achievement is not to be taken lightly.
Academy SA coach Michelle Nesbitt took to Facebook to express her pride in her youthful team of ladies.
Nesbitt's post included the below caption:
"No words can describe how proud I am of these kids! It was such a privilege and honour to work with such talented and hard working dancers! Congratulations to the new Junior Ballet Small Group World Champions."
Nesbitt is the owner of her own dance school and has been working with the ballet students for at least five years.
