Pretty Yende recently made history as she became the youngest South African to be awarded with the Knight of the Italian Star.
The Italian Consul honoured the talented young opera singer with the Ordine Stella d'Italia, which essentially is an Italian Knighthood.
Briefly.co.za understands that the momentous occasion took place in Cape Town and Yende was over the moon.
Briefly.co.za also learnt that the young soprano came from humble beginnings as she was born in the small town of Piet Retief.
She pursued music as a career from the age of 16 and has been showcasing her musical talents across the globe.
The talented musician received loads of positive comments after sharing the news on Facebook.
Lize Thomas paid tribute to Yende:
"You are indeed a worthy recipient of this extraordinary honour."
Rebecca King Grammer acknowledged the special achievement:
"Wow, congratulations! What an honour."
Katherine Reardon added,
"Wow! This is an immense honour indeed and so very well deserved. Congratulations Pretty, our super star."
