As South Africans mourn gospel artist and pastor Neyi Zimu, funeral artist Rasta has picked up his brush to honour him with a portrait. Unfortunately, the artwork does not sit well with Mzansi social media users - as usual.
Pictures of Rasta painting a portrait of Neyi trended on social media yesterday and many said that it did not look a thing like the late musician.
Twitter user Lindingubs1:
"What does he do after painting? Does he give it to the family or sell it?"
"Doing what he is famous for. Drawing the inner person of his subject. Lomuntu unomoya."
"Waitse this can't be a laughing matter any more? This guy must be stopped!"
"But rasta guys. Norrr man. I'm not happy. I'm beginning to worry now."
Neyi passed away earlier this month in a hospital in Modderfontain, Gauteng. The artist was being treated for a rare blood disorder.
Family, friends and fans gathered at the House of Treasures Ministries church in Johannesburg on Wednesday for the funeral. The ceremony was attended by big names like EFF leadership, Dr Tumi and Rebecca Malope.
