- South African award-winning singer, Lira, shared a photo on social media that had her trending for all the wrong reasons
- The photo is of her and Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, both sporting natural hairstyles
- Peeps grabbed the opportunity to compare the two ladies and even started a challenge, #ThisWasSentToMeChallenge
Lerato Molapo, known professionally as Lira, was targeted by social media trolls when she shared a photo of her and Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe and Miss SA, next to each other.
Both of them are proud to wear their hair naturally and while Zozi broke barriers with her natural look, Lira has been keeping things natural for years.
That did not matter to social media users who used the opportunity to roast Lira. Comparisons were made between the women, and soon peeps started shading the singer.
The #ThisWasSentToMeChallenge saw tweeps sharing photos of them next to celebs they would love to look like, but do not. With this challenge, they were basically saying Lira could only wish to look like Zozi.
Oh, what a heartless place the social media streets can be.
According to ZAlebs, Lira had to delete her original tweet after all the attention it got.
This is what was floating around on Twitter:
Lira is not without achievements to be proud of. On top of making award-winning music, she is the first African woman to have her own Barbie doll.
Briefly.co.za reported that Lira was part of a global campaign to honour extraordinary women with a doll in their likeness. The campaign also celebrates Barbie's 60th anniversary.
