EFF gets labelled as a cult after members kneel before Julius Malema

- Julius Malema gave such a moving speech at his party's national conference that members got emotional

- Some members even decided to kneel before their leadership and this prompted South Africans to see the party as a cult

- As a result, many people discussed the alleged cult-like tendencies of the EFF on social media

The EFF got together for its National People's Assembly to elect the top 6, which went down quite undramatically.

However, when re-elected leader, Julius Malema, gave his speech, things took an interesting turn.

Members of the party were so moved by their leader's words that they fell to their knees before him.

This action got people talking and soon the EFF was accused of being a cult with Malema as the cult leader.

Briefly.co.za gathered that some people felt that it was simply the red berets' way of showing their loyalty, many others were not impressed.

The hashtag #EFFIsACult started trending on social media as more people joined the discussion.

This comes after 4 members of the EFF were taken to hospital in the early morning hours of 15 December. The women were attacked with pepper spray by the EFF's paramilitary security unit, known as the "Defenders of the Revolution".
