- Finance Minister Tito Mboweni had a little paparazzi moment recently
- The politician ran into a gogo who recognised him and paused to take some snaps
- The 95-year-old clearly made an impression on the minister, who took to social media to retell it
Tito Mboweni is headed home to his Hammanskraal abode and stopped along the way at a petrol station.
After running into a citizen who recognised him, Mboweni shared the story on social media:
"An old Gogo asked to shake my hand and take a picture. I obliged. What a moment."
The elderly lady had recognised him from the news and couldn't resist the opportunity for a snap or two.
Mboweni seemed touched by the whole situation, explaining further that:
"She was so happy. That happy smile made my day! Mrs Elizabeth Mpheli. Speechless. Merry Christmas Gogo. She is 95 years old."
Briefly.co.za reported that Mboweni's aged boots broke the internet after he attended a high-level meeting in them.
The exact same pair made a reappearance and the crowd went wild. In his defence, the minister was heading to his farm-style homestead and we doubt the chickens would care.
