Singer Lungisa Xhamela dropped a new album titled My Heart to Your Soul in September.
Xhamela told TshisaLive that he was inspired to change his sound in order to show people a different side to his talent that what they saw during his time on Idols three years ago.
He said, "You definitely try to shake off the tag of Idols SA contestant. To shake it off I have gone a different route. Trying to rebrand myself outside what people saw on the show.”
Xhamela said he didn't know who he was musically during his time on the show.
The musician discovered that he was more into soul and R&B after his time on Idols.
Xhamela said it was a huge challenge to adjust to looking out for himself after being exposed to thousands of fans every week.
He said, “You have to carry on with that momentum from the show. I have managed to do that.
"I have taken my fans with me on the journey and asked them to stick with me, and they have.”
Xhamela said his family is his biggest inspiration and he will be spending time with them in the Eastern Cape during this festive season.
