- Local artists often feel neglected in comparison to international acts
- An artist who expressed this recently is rapper Youngsta CPT
- He tweeted that he wishes people would listen more closely to his work, they way they would a J Cole or Travis Scott
Cape Town-based Youngsta CPT is definitely a fave among SA's conscious rappers.
Briefly.co.za reported that Cassper Nyovest heaped praises on him earlier this year.
Youngsta was also a top nominee at the SA Hip Hop Awards.
The 27-year-old, who said he is far from a gangster rapper, just wants the recognition he deserves.
He tweeted, “If people really listen to my music and do the research they would do for J.Cole or Travis Scott they’d realize it’s more than surface level."
"Should be easier coz it’s local content but, Things Take Time.”
Well, things might be looking up for Youngsta in terms of recognition as he managed to bag two awards at this year's SA Hip Hop Awards.
