- Fikile Mbalula took to Twitter to show Samkele Maseko his support
- The minister said he admires the journo for his "instincts" in fighingt injustice
- Many SA tweeps saw Mbalula's post as a publicity stunt and they called him out
South Africans have shown Samkele Maseko overwhelming support following the alleged questionable circumstances surrounding Samkele Maseko's dismissal from eNCA.
Now, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has shared his two cents on the matter. Taking to his Twitter account, Mbaweezy showed Samkele some love while managing to call him irritating in the same post.
"Samkele is a young man I admire very much he will irritate a hell out of you bfo he even joined @eNCA when he was still with jacaranda FM. Like all activist his instincts of fighting an injustice was ignited by this unethical conduct visited upon him."
South Africans weren't too impressed with Mbalula's post. While some agreed with the transport minister, others threw shade at him for trying to be in the spotlight.
The reactions prompted Mbalula to set the record straight by assuring tweeps he was not looking for publicity.
"I don't need publicity, I have publicity already" - Mbalula wrote in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za reported earlier that Kanthan Pillay has issued an internal apology. The eNCA head of news found himself at the centre of a storm that he created.
However, the apology has not been well received, with the EFF standing firm in opposition to the ordeal.
