King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo is heading home ahead of Christmas after being released. Imprisoned since 2015, the leader has accepted the terms of his parole.
It seems as if King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has accepted that he won't be receiving a presidential pardon.
News24 reports that the controversial leader is heading home for the holidays after accepting President Cyril Ramaphosa won't be playing ball.
Briefly.co.za reported that Ramaphosa had granted the king a remission on his 15-year sentence for numerous counts of kidnapping, assault, arson, culpable homicide and defeating the ends of justice.
In response to Dalindyebo's release, his spokesperson says all the effort put in by traditional and religious figures had been appreciated:
"He is now with his family. He appreciates everyone who has played a role in his release, by way of sending petitions calling for release, holding prayers and marching to government leaders' offices.
"As for now, he is spending time with his family. He would love to be given space. When the time is right, he will himself pronounce. The issue of presidential pardon will be discussed at some stage."
