When women get divorced, there are those who make the choice of taking back their maiden names. Many of our divorced SA female celebs have done so, but there are other who have decided to keep their ex-husband's name. It makes sense to do this if they used that name when building a brand.

We have many powerful women in SA who boldly changed their surname and went back to their maiden names despite the fact that their ex-husband’s name was associated with them. These women have shown that they are taking charge, proving they are powerful enough to make any name a household one.

Unathi Nkayi

Unathi took the decision to go by her first name only. In instances where a surname should be mentioned, it will be maiden name Nkayi!

Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa

The first sign that Enhle and Black Coffee’s marriage was over was Enhle changing her last name back from Maphumulo to Mlothshwa.

Sonia Mbele

Sonia Mbele takes full responsibility for making her husband’s name, Ledlie Sedibe, famous. Being the independent woman she is, she has since made her own family’s name a household name.

Bonnie Mbuli

This South African actress was known to all as Bonnie Henna. Soon after her divorce from Sisanda Henna, she too took the bold step to change her name back to Mbuli

Nhlanhla Mafu

Even though Nhlanhla has not officially changed her name and is still using ex-hubby’s name Nciza on her Instagram, she is making a bold statement in her captions and is referring to herself as Ms Mafu.
