- Supporters lauded the team for all their hard work
The tough fixture list of Mamelodi Sundowns has shone a spotlight on what it takes to be a professional footballer at a top club.
Briefly.co.za recently reported that the team landed in Algeria on Tuesday ahead of their CAF Champions League match on Saturday.
As a result, the players will be forced to train on Christmas Day.
Another recent social media post enabled coach Pitso Mosimane to reflect on the hard work put in to achieve their incredible success.
A twitter user shared an image of the most matches played in 2019 and it came as no surprise that the Brazilians topped the list, with a total of 54 matches.
Mosimane then added that it is the consequence of always competing for silverware - they've won 9 trohpies in 6 years.
Briefly.co.za noted the warm response received from the Sundowns faithful as they showed their appreciation for their boys.
The 8th Wonder (@MphowaMoletlane) wished the team well:
"Sir Pitso Mosimane, he who turned Sundowns into one of football giants in Africa. Today Sundowns is a family. We win or lose still celebrate for we are football giants. We run our own race. Merry Christmas to Jingles and team."
Stimela Maseko (@stimela09618922) recognised the sacrifices made:
"Merry Christmas to you Guys, I know it's not easy to leave your Family dis time of the year but u must know u did dis to all South Africans, we appreciate haholo Guys. Merry Christmas to you all."
Mzwandile (@DuaserSA) added,
"We can never get tired of watching ibhola elinenkosi phakathi, let’s bring back home those 3 points Masadawana. Merry Christmas."
