Julius Malema will be heading to Seshego, Limpopo, where he will be gifting elderly residents of his hometown with hampers.

IOL reports that the EFF has upheld this tradition since Juju formed the political party six years ago, fulfilling his promise to support older residents.

The annual event is reportedly aimed at attracting older voters to the party, which is predominantly supported by younger South Africans.

The Red Beret boss will be holding two events in his hometown, one at the Kgobaganang Sports Ground and another at Masecha Primary School on Tuesday.

Commenting on social development, MP Delisile Ngwenya reiterated the party's view that the president should take the lead:

“South Africa needs a co-ordinated and skilled approach to deal with poverty. All initiatives scattered across government can be co-ordinated from a central point. The president must take full responsibility and all programmes related to poverty alleviation must be directed by the presidency.”

Meanwhile, the party has welcomed a new member from across the border, former Zimbabwean Minister Patrick Zhuwao, Briefly.co.za gathered.

Currently in exile, Zhuwao commented on his decision to join the Red Berets as an ordinary member:

"I have applied to join EFF as a fighter and ordinary card-carrying member in a branch within Gauteng Province. I am happy to work as a ground fighter. I do not seek elected office; as a refugee, I am not eligible anyway."
