Supra Mahumapelo defends Zuma at ex-president's Christmas party

Former Premier Supra Mahumapelo managed to take the spotlight as the life of the party at Jacob Zuma's Christmas event for the elderly.
Mahumapelo stopped over in KwaZulu-Natal for the event, entertaining with his Tswana skills and vocal talent.
But the ex-premier wasn't all party, pausing for a moment to come out in staunch defence of the former head of state.
The ANC veteran was adamant that condemnation against the ex-president was misplaced, strongly lashing the narrative that Zuma's nine-year reign had been wasted time.

The former premier had made a show of supporting Zuma during his brief appearance at the State Capture Inquiry, reports The Citizen.
Mahumapelo noted what he felt was three critical outcomes of the ex-president's tenure:
- An outreach programme
- A consultation programme
- Allies of the ruling party functioned better
When the world economic recession hit, explained the ex-premier, Zuma had rolled out a R1 trillion infrastructure programme.
Briefly.co.za reported that the premier's office, during Mahumapelo's tenure, had been implicated in corruption at the Zondo Commission.
The inquiry heard how R50 million was allegedly approved to include SA Express' use of the region's airports, with procedures omitted in the 'strange deal'.
