British TV personality, Sharon Osbourne, shocked and upset many people when she admitted to treating a former assistant poorly.

Sharon was on the TV show, Would I Lie To You?, on which celebs and well-known figures tell stories and other contestants must guess if they were being honest.

She told her story, of how she sent an assistant into her home, which was burning, to collect her dogs and paintings.

Later, the man was treated by firefighters and given an oxygen mask, which Sharon said she pulled away and gave to her dog.

She wanted the man to head back into the building. Sharon and her husband, muso Ozzy Osbourne, laughed about the situation, but the assistant didn't find it funny.

She then promptly fired the man.

While the show's contestants and hosts found the story amusing, social media users did not, Briefly.co.za noticed.

@clovis_liz

"This is the woman whose child was hopelessly addicted to drugs but only got poor kid professional help when his addiction started to affect the filming of their reality tv show."

@Shamils18

"Revolting nature of BBC comedians and funny shows. Laugh at terrible jokes and stories. Going back to the Victorian times."

@BethanAngharadL

"Yep. I watched that and knew immediately that it must be true and was amazed that she thought it appropriate to tell on TV. Wasn’t surprised by the story in the least."

@benjaminbutter

"I didn't laugh, I found the whole sequence disturbing. Normally I love the programme, this woman is vile"

@willhel

"I thought the most shocking thing about this story was the laughter and clapping that followed when this vile person took the oxygen mask off him and put it on her dog. She treated an employee with abhorrent disregard for his safety and mocked the fact he might have lung damage."

@frankgallaghe18

"She may have money but lacks human decency and is clearly unhinged."

@AmblingJohn

"She has proven many times over the years that she is a rich, callous person. This is just the latest example."
