Nicholas Dlamini is now out of surgery and resting in hospital as he recovers from an injury he sustained earlier.
The pro cyclist was reportedly hurt during a scuffle with SANParks rangers and his arm was broken.
Briefly.co.za reported that South Africans were outraged at Nicholas' treatment and shared their own complaints about officials and their mistreatment.
A friend of Nicholas shared a snap of him resting in a hospital bed and reassured everyone that he is doing better.
He added that the cyclist is grateful for the support that South Africans have been showing him since the video showing his treatment went viral.
"He is out of surgery but super, super tired…but also totally humbled by all the massive support and love out there."
According to News24, actress Vanessa Haywoodvisited Nicholas and said that although he was in pain after the surgery, he was in good spirits.
Meanwhile, the 5 rangers who were involved in the violent incident has been put on precautionary suspension.
Lize McCourt, SA National Parks acting CEO, said an independent service provider will be appointed to conduct a preliminary investigation, reported SowetanLIVE.
