KZN storm victims get financial support to rebuild destroyed homes

More than 400 homes were destroyed during a storm that hit KwaZulu-Natal on Christmas Eve.

Two people also died during this intense display of mother nature's power in the Creighton community.

As reported on by SABC News, some of the victims will receive aid from the government in the form of financial support.

Households are allocated R8 000 that will go towards the rebuilding of more than 400 homes.

Peggy Nkonyeni, MEC for Human Settlement, said the government has roped in the help of a service provider who will be giving them building material.

KZN has been suffering under stormy weather for some time now. reported earlier that tornadoes have targeted province.

About a month ago, a third tornado touched down in Utrecht.

Disaster management teams were on the scene where widespread damage to property was noted.

The tornado damaged large portions of the Watervaal Correctional Services facility.
