Radio broadcaster, Baxolise 'Buck' Matyila, has passed away. The SABC confirmed that the popular DJ died after a short illness.
On 13 December, he tweeted that he was unhappy with the service he was receiving at the hospital where he was being treated.
His tweet did not name the particular hospital, however the media personality implied he was at a public facility.
Buck worked on radio for more than 11 years and hosted a number of prime-time shows on TruFM.
The SABC released an official statement which said, "(Buck) embodied the image and sound of the station and his passing is a loss to the SABC and the broadcasting community at large.
"He was also an energetic local influencer with a great passion for broadcasting and has left an indelible mark on South African radio with his unique connection to his listeners."
Buck's memorial service will take place on Thursday and his funeral will be on Sunday.
