Earlier, reported that a couple's wedding photos went viral and Mmusi Maimane started trending online after tweeps realised the minister officiating the ceremony looked like the former DA leader.

Moruti Maimane - as some dubbed him - has now opened up about the experience and he confirmed that he was the one who married the beautiful couple.

The former DA leader said:

"My great honour to marry my former Chief of Staff. It was a great journey from Lobola to here. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your future and remind us of the beauty of our nation."

South Africans were happy to see Maimane has been enjoying life after he walked away from the Democratic Alliance.

Twitter user, @ThabsT99, wrote:

Some social media users wanted to know what the chances are of Maimane officiating the highly-anticipated KFC wedding.

The KFC wedding is scheduled to take place on New Year's Eve and Mzansi social media users are not handling their lack of invites well.
