Based on the evidence of a video which has gone viral on social media, it's safe to say that even God's earthly representative, Pope Francis, has limitations to his patience

In the video, Pope Frances was filmed slapping away a woman’s hand after she forcefully grabbed and yanked his arm as he visited the nativity scene at St Peter’s Square.

Pope Francis visibly lost his cool after the lady, who happened to be a pilgrim in the crowd, grabbed his arm and wouldn’t let go.

The Pope repeatedly slapped her hand off and told her to let go of him.

Nydailynews.com reports that Pope Francis was walking through the square in Vatican City en route to visit the nativity scene set up in the centre.

He reached out to touch a child, according to Reuters, then turned away from the crowd.

A woman standing on the other side of the barrier made the sign of the cross as he approached, then grabbed his hand just as he turned to walk away and tugged forcefully on his arm.

As the internet deities would have it, the incident was caught on video and posted online.

''The abrupt gesture appeared to cause him pain, and Francis swiftly wrenched his hand free,'' Reuters reported.

But she persisted, hanging onto him and speaking.

83-year-old ''visibly indignant'' Pope, who appeared to wince in pain, slapped her hand away and freed himself from her grip.

According to Nydailynews.com, the pope’s security guards were on the scene an instant later helping pry Francis’s hand from the woman’s grasp.

Pope Francis has since apologised to the woman for the aggressiveness which he showed in wrenching free.
