David Tembe proudly showed off the hard work the JMPD has been doing to make Mzansi safe. The Chief of Police revealed the Freeway Unit officers had arrested a woman for crossing the N3 North and Modderfontein.
According to Tembe, the safety of the pedestrian was compromised and she could have been hit by a car.
Take a look at his post below:
Briefly.co.za gathered the post left South Africans divided - some applauded the JMPD for attesting the jaywalker while others said the police should be focusing on bigger problems.
Zweli Mkhasibe, who goes by the Twitter handle @Zweli1918Zweli, commented:
"Jaywalking is endangering yourself and innocent lives it must be condemned."
Another tweep, @EPristo, said:
"There must be alternative ways to deal with this without letting them get away with it. Our jails are probably full of people like this who cannot afford bail or a fine. While real criminals are roaming the street. Maybe make her clean the toilets at the traffic department?"
