Former Ukhozi FM DJ Vukani ‘Chillie M’ Masinga died on Thursday afternoon from natural causes.

A close friend of the star, Isaac Sithole, confirmed the news and told TshisaLIVE that the radio personality died at a Johannesburg hospital.

Sithole added that the radio host was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning and had passed away later that day.

“He died from natural causes. The family plan to bury him next week Saturday,” said Sithole.

Fans have flooded social media with tributes to the star and condolences to his family.

According to TshisaLIVE, Chilli M was heartbroken by the death of his daughter, Nkanywezi, in 2015. She was killed in a car accident while returning from a family holiday.

The DJ was axed by Ukhozi FM in 2016 after he admitted taking a bribe from an aspiring kwaito group, later explaining her had taken the money after being left in financial distress following the death of his daughter.

Chilli told the Daily Sun: “Every company has its own policies. I went against the SABC policy and I paid the price. I was tempted because I had lost my daughter and was in financial distress.”
