- A DA leader has called Helen Zille out over her recent tweets
- The KZN provincial leader of the party said Zille's comments were not helping to build the country
- Zille has also received backlash from Mzansi social media users
DA's KwaZulu-Natal provincial leader, Zwakele Mncwago, has expressed disappointment over Helen Zille's recent social media posts. Mncwago believes that Zille's recent tweets are not helping to build the country.
Briefly.co.za had previously reported that Zille recently shared a cartoon by Jerm, discussing the land issue in South Africa. Attempting to portray how the narrative surrounding the motion generalises when it comes to race, the image raised a few eyebrows. The DA federal chair felt that the cartoon managed to 'aptly capture the fallacy and racism behind race generalisations'.
Backlash ensued, with some accusing Zille of being divisive instead of unifying. According to TimesLive, Mncwango said that Zille’s views were not helping to build the country and were hurting their reconciliation project.
