The Eastern Cape welcomed 224 babies on New Year's Day. Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and his wife Siyasanga visited some of the happy parents to congratulate them on their new bundles of joy.

The new year kicked off with an impressive number of babies born in Mzansi. In the Eastern Cape alone, 224 New Year's babies were welcomed into the world, TimesLIVE reported.
The province's premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, and his wife Siyasanga visited the happy couple whose child was born first on New Year's Day in the Eastern Cape.
Taking to Twitter, Mabuyane posted a snap of himself and his wifey meeting Ncamile and Xoliswa Dyala.
The premier captioned the photo:
"We congratulated Ncamile and Xoliswa Dyala the parents of the first child to be born at Dora Nginza hospital on #newyearsday for the birth of their daughter Lungaka Dyala. Newborns, moms got gifts to give them a joyous mood. We were excited to see these beautiful #newyearbabies."

Meanwhile, the MEC of health in Limpopo also gave Mzansi an update on New Year's babies in their province.
