Police have confirmed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of KZN woman, Zinhle Muthwa.

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested after an intensive investigation by the SAPS and was taken into custody.

Zinhle's body, with head injuries and bruises, was discovered on New Year's Day after she went missing the previous day, Briefly.co.za reported earlier.

She was found next to a road at the Ndaya Reserve and her parents positively identified her on Thursday, 2 January.

Captain Nqobile Gwala, police spokesperson, added that Zinhle had suffered a gunshot to her head. A firearm was confiscated by the police.

TimesLIVE reports that the suspect will appear in the Umbumbulu magistrate's court on Monday, 6 January.

Lt-Gen Khombinkosi Jula, provincial police commissioner, has praised investigators for the swift arrest.
