Halala: 7 Top SAHETI matrics who received 8 or more distinctions

The matric results are finally out and one school boasted of seven pupils who secured eight or more distinctions.

The SAHETI School - an English-medium school located in Gauteng - could not be prouder of its pupils' matric results.

The school has several pupils who graduated with distinctions, including seven learners who walked away with eight or more distinctions.

Briefly.co.za took a closer look at the seven pupils who dominated the 2019 matric exams.

1. Christina Marinakos

Normally, pupils have seven subjects. However, Christina Marinakos took nine subjects in school and she managed to get distinctions in all of them.

The brilliant pupil achieved 99% in mathematics - one of the most difficult subjects offered at school level. Her impressive maths score secured Marinakos a spot in the top 1% ranking in the subject in South Africa.

She also received distinctions in Afrikaans, English, information lechnology, Life orientation, life sciences, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

2. Socrati Balassis

Like Marinakos, Socrati Balassis bagged a whopping nine distinctions: Afrikaans, English, history, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

Three of his subjects placed in the A+ category and Balassis ranked within the top 1% nationally in English.

3. Antonio Aristides

Antonio Aristides achieved a whopping eight distinctions and according to News24, he did it all while battling cancer.

According to SAHETI's Facebook page, Aristides obtained distinctions in Afrikaans, business studies, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and physical sciences.

He also placed within the top 5% of the IEB candidates nationally in five or more subjects.

4. Nektarios Hajiyianni

Like Aristides, Nektarios Hajiyianni also achieved eight distinctions. The school revealed he passed business studies, English, information technology, isiZulu, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and physical sciences, a;; with distinctions.

5. Christiana Kassimatis

Christiana Kassimatis is another SAHETI School pupil who bagged eight distinctions. She achieved distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and advanced programme mathematics.

6. Markos Klapsinos

Markos Klapsinos ranked within the top 1% nationally in maths. The SAHETI pupil achieved an impressive 97% for the subject - which many find extremely difficult.

Aside from maths, Klapsinos obtained distinctions in business studies, English, information technology, life orientation, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

7. Erietta Ktena

While some of us struggle to speak our home languages properly, Erietta Ktena ranked within the top 1% nationally in modern Greek.

She was also lauded by the IEB for ranking within the top 5% of candidates nationally in six or more subjects.

According to the school's Facebook page, Ktena achieved an average of 90% and a full house of eight distinctions.
