Beyoncé didn't get to take a Golden Globe award home despite being nominated for Best Original Song - Motion Picture for her The Lion King track Spirit, but she still grabbed all the attention at the awards ceremony.
Actor Joaquin Phoenix won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his role in Joker.
While everyone else stood up to applaud the actor, Queen Bey decided to remain seated.
People naturally noticed that the singer didn't get up and took to social media to discuss her decision.
While some tweeps thought that Beyoncé was being disrespectful, others admired her 'energy'. One person pointed out that the popular star may have remained seated so she didn't obscure the view with her big dress.
"She's like “the queen don't stand for nobody but the queen” lmfaoo"
"I hate everyone thinking being negative is a good personality trait and praising it"
"which means absolutely NOTHING lmao she's just petty"
"Someone’s upset bc they’re overrated and didn’t win a golden globe"
"damn y'all rlly mad about her staying seated... I don't see it as a good thing but I don't see it as a bad thing either. she's just sitting down, it's not that deep lol"
"It makes her look bad tbh. And I’m a Beyoncé fan. I thought it was because her dress would have blocked others view and she was being courteous."
Briefly.co.za learnt that Beyoncé did not walk the red carpet during the Globes awards. She and her hubby, Jay-Z, arrived at the ceremony during the broadcast of the show.
