- Jabu Mabuza resigned as chair of the Eskom board and the EFF is happy but wants more
- The party wants Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan, to also resign from his post
- Spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said if he doesn't quit, President Ramaphosa must fire him
Jabu Mabuza has resigned from his post as chairman of the board of Eskom. This came after the ANC's Pravin Gordhan criticized the board for deceiving President Ramaphosa about load-shedding.
The party has welcomed and praised Mabuza's resignation, saying he's acting with responsibility.
The Economic Freedom Party has also welcomed Mabuza's decision but wants more to down.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the EFF said Mabuza's resignation is overdue.
“Mabuza’s resignation at the power utility is long overdue. He has demonstrated complete incompetence and absolute ignorance about energy and Eskom in general."
However, the party wants Pravin Gordhan to also step down from his post.
"The minister of public enterprises Pravin Gordhan must also follow and resign. He too is at the centre of the confusion, incompetence, paralysis and the lack of direction suffered by Eskom.
“No-one, in the past 12 months in the cabinet, has been as complete a failure as Gordhan has been. He has also demonstrated empty arrogance, putting state assets in a dire situation in an attempt to justify their privatisation. In this regard, he is also completely dangerous."
