- A 32-year-old woman from Mpumalanga has made her family very proud
- Although she had to face many difficulties, Athalia Mashile managed to matriculate
- The inspiring woman now hopes to study further so she can help her community
Athalia Mashile is disabled and had a very tough time getting her matric certificate. It was not easy at all but she never gave up.
Because she persevered, she could finish high school and earned the respect of countless South Africans.
Her mother, Merlina, is very proud of her achievement, Briefly.co.za gathered.
Athalia wants to study further and assist her community. She hopes to study social work at the University of Free State.
Her message to people with disabilities:
"They must accept and trust themselves; it can sometimes be difficult - you must persevere."
The Department of Education has granted Athalia a bursary so she can further her studies.
People who heard about Athalia's story were very proud of her and wish her the best in her future.
She is serving as a big inspiration to others.
