It's mid Januworry and the wallets of many South Africans are feeling the financial pinch. This could have been the motivation for the man who tried to leave a restaurant without paying the bill recently. A video has been shared on social media showing security and staff members from the eatery escorting the man back to his unpaid bill.

Twitter user Tabz_Ngomane shared the footage on social meal with the caption:

"Why order food/drinks yet you know you can't afford?"

The video immediately went viral with over 45 000 views. Social media users were both appalled and amused by the clip. Twitter user DJLYNDRISH said:

"This is the same as people who order things on the menu they can’t afford and when it’s time to pay, they contribute less than they spent and the other people have to cover the difference."

"It’s not about affordability, he’s a bad person and a criminal. If it was affordability he wouldn’t have gone in the first place. He needs to be found fast fast so we can expose him some more."
