Senior SAPS officers’ Mabena moment caught on video at Maponya funeral

- A group of senior SAPS officers attempted a special salute to honour the legendary entrepreneur

- The top cops got it all wrong and their botched attempt has gone viral via social media

Maponya achieved legendary status for his pioneering entrepreneurial skills and passed away at the age of 99.

Fittingly, a special funeral service took place with several high-profile guests.

Top officers from the South African Police Service (SAPS) attempted a special salute in honour of Maponya and the incident has gone viral.

Unfortunately, it was for all the wrong reasons as their botched efforts ended embarrassingly.

The four senior cops couldn't tell left from right and were completely out of sync.

Twitter user Sibonelo Mkhasibe (@Bomkhasi) shared the video clip earlier and subsequently, social media influencer Man’s NOT Barry Roux  (@AdvoBarryRoux) followed suit.

Manelisi (@puka) questioned the rationale:

"I’ve never understood the need for this. Let’s just be ourselves as South Africans, we don’t have much order and that’s okay."

Azanian people (@gm_mhlongo) shared a cheeky response:

"The only thing they do better than anyone else is corruption they excel in that department."

Zondeka (@Zondeka2) added,

"This is a shame, senior officers do not know what is left and what is right. What do you expect from juniors when seniors are doing this? It says a lot by the police."
