Orlando Pirates will host Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night in a crunch Absa Premiership clash.
Although Pirates are out of the running for league glory this season, the result could have a bearing on the title race.
Briefly.co.za gathered that much of the talk has been that a Pirates win will provide a considerable boost for Kaizer Chiefs.
Defeat for Sundowns would solidify the nine-point lead that Chiefs currently enjoy.
However, Pirates winger Luvuyo Memela insists that the impact on the Amakhosi is not a factor for the Buccaneers.
Memela said, “For me‚ I think it’s not about Kaizer Chiefs‚ or doing a favour for Kaizer Chiefs. I think what’s important is to focus on us.”
SowetanLIVE reported that the Pirates players will be focusing on the team performance, above all else.
Memela added, "We need to focus on us and not worry about other people."
Although Pirates are 17 points off the pace in the title race, Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer issued a stern warning to PSL rivals.
The German mentor pointed to his previous success in Europe and is determined to help the Buccaneers win silverware.
