Orlando Pirates secured a hard-fought and somewhat fortunate 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Soon after kick-off, Motjeka Madisha was dispossessed, but Luvuyo Memela failed to make the most of the opportunity as his shot went straight to Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango.
Sundowns then awoke from their slumber and Gaston Sirino's tantalising free kick picked out the head of Anele Ngcongca in the 16th.
The defender made good contact and had the beating of Pirates goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands, but was denied by the post.

Sandilands was called upon soon again, but then denied Thapelo Morena with his legs.
As the match went into the 30th minute, Gabadinho Mhango came to life after meeting Memela’s through ball.
His low strike was enough to beat Onyango and scored his 11th goal of the league campaign.
The second half started off conservatively, but the Brazilians tried everything in the dying minutes.
With just over 10 minutes remaining, Sirino unleashed a powerful long-range strike, but was denied by the woodwork.
Briefly.co.za noted the interesting reactions via Twitter. Most Pirates fans were understandably over the moon, but Chiefs fans were just as chuffed.
The result means that the Amakhosi maintain their nine-point lead in the Absa Premiership.

Fab (@fabkariss) shared his optimism for the future:
"That was long......but I think our new manager can address our defensive issues am just happy for the win and most importantly the clean sheet."
Simangaliso Sibande (@wiseman_sibande) questioned Mosimane's tactics:
"We didn't play like people who wanted to win the game. Why play with slow people and yet put in long balls? Vila should have gone out early instead of Maboe. The coach should have brought in Kekeletso."
#Uspece 16 (@Simphiwe_Acker) backed his team:
"Sundowns fans are spoilt yaz, 1-0 loss nyana people are having so many negative comments, calm down we lost to a good team bafwethu. Heads up we've a lot to deal with right now."
