- Tyler Perry is unapologetic about constantly writing scripts that depict battered black women and dysfunctional black relationships
- Tyler received the criticism after the trailer for his latest movie, A Fall From Grace, was released
- Movie fans begged the producer to hire some writers, but he's adamant he will continue writing scripts all by himself
Briefly.co.za recently reported that fans were begging Tyler Perry to hire writers after the trailer of his latest movie was released.
It was the same old typical Tyler 'black woman in a bad relationship' storyline.
Fans believed it was time for Tyler to hire some other writers in order to get a different perspective.
They accused him of being greedy and narcissistic but Tyler was not having any of it.
The famous movie producer bragged about writing all of his scripts all by himself because he has "work ethic".
Tyler has now come out to say that he will continue to write all of his production house's scripts in order to honour his mother.
He told TshisaLive, “My hope in doing these films is that ... my mother was in a horrible relationship with a man for 40-something years, and what my hope was for her to know that she's worthy, special and powerful as a black woman.
“I was hoping one day she'd get to seeing worth and to see that she deserves better than that.”
Tyler continued, “There are great movies where women are in great relationships that other people have written, that's not what I wanted to do. As an artist I'm doing what I want to do.”
Tyler's latest BET drama series, The Oval, was cancelled after just one season as viewers complained it watched like a bad melodramatic soap opera.
