76-year-old musician Steve Fataar has passed away, leaving his fans and admirers broken-hearted.

The legendary local muso from Durban died in his sleep in the morning hours of Saturday, 17 January, according to News24.

It is believed that Steve had lung complications, but the exact cause of death has not been released yet.

The muso had played a gig at Zacks, a popular venue in Durban on the night of his death.

Briefly.co.za reported that the musician had gotten ill in 2014 and said it was his fans that kept him going.

Steve's friends held a concert to help benefit him and take on his health problems, according to IOL News.

Musos such as The Hairy-Legged Lentil Eaters, Graham Boyle, The Reals, Steve and his son Dale were part of the concert.

Saddened fans and admirers took to social media to express how they feel at losing the muso.
