SAG Awards: 'Joker' star Joaquin Phoenix tributes his fellow nominees

- Joaquin Phoenix made his acceptance speech for his award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards all about his fellow stars

- The Joker star won the Best Male Actor in a Leading Role Award for his work in the movie

- He decided to point out why his fellow nominees deserved their nominations and honoured late actor Heath Ledger

While accepting his award for best actor, Joaquin Phoenix dedicated his time to honour those around him.

The actor accepted the Best Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and went on about the abilities of his fellow nominees.

He won the award for doing exceptional work in Joker, as also reported on by ew.com.

Joaquin praised Leonardo DiCaprio for being an inspiration for more than 25 years. Leonardo was nominated for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The award-winner also had something nice and praising to say about Taron Egerton, Adam Driver and Christian Bale.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Taron was nominated for his work in Rocketman, Adam got his nod for Marriage Story and Christian impressed in Ford v Ferrari.

To end his speech, Joaquin paid tribute to late actor Heath Ledger. Heath is still greatly admired for his role as Joker in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 drama The Dark Knight.

Joaquin credited Heath as his favourite actor.

“I’m standing here on the shoulders of my favourite actor, Heath Ledger, so, thank you."
